According to the Bible, are women inferior to men?
The Bible certainly tells us that women are the lesser sex and that men are in charge of women. This is a recurring message throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible has again provided us with such wonderful insight and inspiring words with which to guide our lives!
I Timothy 2:11-14
11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15But women will be saved through childbearing–if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
The Apostle Paul, one of the great warriors for God in the Bible, has written these words. His letters have become words to live by. He was always bold and strong in his word, even here he does not speak lightly. Women must keep quiet and cannot teach men. They are weak and easily deceived and brought into sin. Paul knows what he is talking about!
1 Corinthians 11:3
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
He has again established a mans superiority over women, so there is no doubt. My wife must keep silent and do what I say. Men of God rejoice that the Bible has established this things. But can we only listen to the Apostle Paul, are the words of this blessed man enough for us? They are indeed words to live by, but it cannot hurt to look elsewhere in the Bible for wisdom.
To the woman he said,
“I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;
with pain you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.”
