Women Are Inferior To Men

According to the Bible, are women inferior to men?

The Bible certainly tells us that women are the lesser sex and that men are in charge of women. This is a recurring message throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible has again provided us with such wonderful insight and inspiring words with which to guide our lives!

I Timothy 2:11-14
11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15But women will be saved through childbearing–if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

The Apostle Paul, one of the great warriors for God in the Bible, has written these words. His letters have become words to live by. He was always bold and strong in his word, even here he does not speak lightly. Women must keep quiet and cannot teach men. They are weak and easily deceived and brought into sin. Paul knows what he is talking about!

1 Corinthians 11:3
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

Ephesians 5:23
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

He has again established a mans superiority over women, so there is no doubt. My wife must keep silent and do what I say. Men of God rejoice that the Bible has established this things. But can we only listen to the Apostle Paul, are the words of this blessed man enough for us? They are indeed words to live by, but it cannot hurt to look elsewhere in the Bible for wisdom.

Genesis 3:16
To the woman he said,
“I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;
with pain you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.”

Such inspiring words from God himself! As a man, I am glad to know that my long held disdain for women and their inability to do anything right is justified in the words of the Bible. A husband rules over his wife. It is very fitting that God should put these words in the beginning of the Bible. Why would he not want to establish these things from the start? Otherwise there might be generations of women who did not know their place in the world. I would hate to see the terrible things that Satan could do if women had any power or ability to speak freely. This world would surely be in trouble.

1 Corinthians 11:8-9
8For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.

From the start God took a measly rib, a body part a man does not need, and created women from it. That alone should be a sign of how lowly women are. But the Bible in its greatness and wisdom does not leave us guessing about these things. In many passages we are told again and again how men are to rules over women. How many applications does this have in our lives. Meditate on these words and think how you can apply them. Perhaps tell your woman to wash more dishes or to take out the trash more often. Perhaps make her build you a tree house, or pick the cotton in your field. She is yours to command men, go and put what you have learned in the Bible to use. And if there are any girls reading this: get back to doing the dishes, now!

For further reading on this subject, the following verses should provide more insight into a woman’s place in the world -
Leviticus 12:2-5
Deuteronomy 22:22-24
Deuteronomy 25:11-12
Judges 19:24-25

There are other readings of these texts, in structural and historical context, which demonstrate that they should not be taken at face value. You can’t just pull a text or 12 out of their literary and historical contexts – that’s no better than the persons who actually use these verses to oppress women.

as a few examples should demonstrate:
In cultural context, I tim. 2 is dealing female false teachers, not women in general.
In structural context, eph. 5 is calling for mutual submission (see vs. 21)
in literary context, genesis 3 is offering a description of a post-fall reality, not a prescription for male dominance. All of these things must be considered.

sorry to burst your cynical bubble. I just think if we’re going to reject the bible (or whatever) we should do it on it’s own grounds, not what we think it’s saying.

What are “it’s own grounds”? it contradicts itself ever 5 pages or so!
If god gave us brains to think with then maybe we should use them to look critically at the bible? Or maybe we should just reject it as antiquated claptrap

The bible is the word of god all is truth, I am using these passages in a open court of record. The Constitution of Canada states the supremacy of god :) sections 32 & 52 state that the constitution is the supreme law of Canada and it only applies to government and government agents, and that rights contained in it are yours to begin with.
